hellocloud photography by Ken Lönnström bio picture

I love painting with words and describing life with pictures!

Born to this world screaming like everyone else, upset about leaving my safe and secure hidingplace. Where ever I looked there were unfamiliar things, peoples and expressions. Something was sounded in my so called ears, which I later understood were words. New places scared me.

As life has moved on I have come to realize that life really is meant to be lived the way you desire, no matter what. You and I, we can overcome all obstacles and live our dreams instead of just creating images of a different life.

At hellocloud you can read my travel stories, look at my photos and read some of my deeper thoughts or even perhaps some poetry. It will fulfill all my needs and hopefully you’ll find something worth reading or gazing at.

Stay happy!

Unknown road ahead of us

IMG_2878

Today we did actually find some fruitpicking work in a small town called Manjimup in Western Australia, only 4500 km away. In about one week we’ll begin our journey but first we have to get some big water containers, two new tires and enjoy our last few days in Melbourne together with our lovely Jen.

More about this in a few days time! However, if you are interested to see the road we’re going, click here for Google maps. As you probably can see on the map, there is a pit stop in a town called Coober Pedy… It’s a special place where people live underground due to the constant heat in the desert. Interesting place to photograph? I would guess so!

Good night to you all and stay happy. Also thanks alot for reading my blog. I really appreciate it.

Happy birthday Nellie!

IMG_3173

It is my niece’s second birthday today so anyone who reads this can use the comments field to say happy birthday to her. :D The picture above is also a tribute to Nellie. Look at the license plate. She loves to scare people, especially me and Jenny. Walks up to us, hides her face behind her hands and pulls them quickly away screaming “boooh”. Another funny thing with the picture is the beautiful awesome Swedish Volvo.

Life is grand here in Australia. Today I sat at a café for four hours writing on several blog entries which I have not (obviously) posted but they ought to be finished in a few days with pictures and everything. However there are some recent news. Me and Jenny are leaving Melbourne tomorrow and we’re going to a place called Kancoona Valley, which is in the north eastern part of the state Victoria, same as Melbourne. We are to moving in with an Italian family to help them with their vineyard and some building extensions.

It is called wwoofing and it’s when you work approximately twenty hours a week at a farm or similar and in return you get free accommodation and food. This is a great way of experiencing life and find new interesting people, you can do it all across the world. Have a look at their vineyard and restaurant on www.kancoonavalleywines.com.au. Don’t know yet if they have Internet but we will know tomorrow. In that case I’ll write something dull or funny.

Some of you (aunt Vexy) will probably find it funny but in Kancoona… it is quite cold. One hour away from the vineyard lies a ski resort called Falls Creek Resort. We probably have to buy some warm clothes to wear in the following days.

Other news is that we are looking for a car. First plan was to buy a Beetle but they are quite expensive and a bit rare down under. Found a VW Type 3 which looked quite nice, so who knows? Also we have been looking on VW Campervans (Type 2 in Sweden or Bully in Germany) but they are also expensive. There might be an so called Holden Commodore that will end up as our possession. In Sweden, the brand is called Opel instead of Holden.

We are doing some laundry and I have to pack now but until next time, stay happy and enjoy life. And do not forget to write something to my niece in the comments field!

Lots of love
Ken

Welcome to Australia Ken and Jenny

IMG_2840

We made it all the way Home where I spent alot of rainy days together with mARTin in the TV-lounge, pausing in our Interneting only to buy a burger from Dannys Diner just around the corner. There was a long journey from Eskilstuna to Arlanda Airport, London, Hong Kong and finally Melbourne. We were at Arlanda six hours to early, that was a bit insane but it seemed like a good idea at the moment.

All we did there were having some food and made some calls. I had a big burger and Jenny some Swedish meatballs, but we were not too fuzzed about the food, all it did was fill our stomaches. As you can see on one picture in our Facebook-album, we have a blue duck called “The Hoff” after our talented favorite actor David Hasselhoff also known as Mitch Buchanan in Baywatch. He is going to do some guest appearances during our trip.

The flight, we can reveal, was too short. Jenny slept the three hours to London and then the next twelve hours to Hong Kong. There are lots of thoughts popping into my head as we travelled and experienced the airports. Firstly I wonder who actually does the trimming of the lawns at Heathrowe and by which time. It was really neat.

In London our flight was delayed but we had the luck to stumble upon Filip, a 23 year-old guy from Uppsala, Sweden. He got fired three months ago from his work as a handyman. Financial crisis. He woke up one day not that many weeks ago and decided that he didn’t want to remain in that country for now. New Zeeland and adventures await him.

One creepy thing is that the world seems more worried about the swine flu than Sweden. At Heathrowe, Asians were running around wearing mouth covers/filter. Believe it or not, but when we entered the airplane to Hong Kong, some in the staff wore these too and a big deal of the passengers. People were strung like bows. If someone coughed you could feel the silence creeping under your very skin.

After around 27 hours we arrived in Melbourne. Everything went fine, Jenny slept almost the whole way meanwhile I could not which us unusual for me. Most often I fall asleep like a tired baby when I travel. I got to see lots of movies, Top Model and CSI which was all kind of good. However til the last CSI episode both mine and Jennys screens froze. The cabin crew restarted them without success. I learned though that they use Linux as operating system.

The feeling of flying through low hanging clouds, feeling that sudden impact as the wheels touches the Australian ground, that is just unbeatable. We had this airport shuttle which picked us up and drove us to our hostel. A familiar face met me, Richard, a guy I really came to like during my first visit to Melbourne over seven months ago. He works at the hostel. The day before we went to Australia I e-mailed them to make a reservation and can you imagine that he remembered me?

In the evening we met up with my friend Jennifer after a few text messages, whom I met on Moretone Island in September last year along with mARTin and her friend Linda. We have really come to enjoy each others company and met several times, she took me and mARTin out on some expeditions, just went shopping or had lunch, we also got invited to a real Aussie house to see her sister and her family. It was so good to see her after all this time and both Jennys were excited about meeting each other. :)

Lots of hugs
from Ken and Jenn

Into the world

IMG_8841

In this very moment both me and my lovely girlfriend are nervous. Don’t really know why, but it might have something with the fact that we are sitting on a airplane in less than 19 hours. Where are we going? Melbourne, in Australia, the place where beautiful graffiti colour everybodys surroundings.

St. Kilda is the place where we will live for a week or two and hopefully we’ll find some fruitpicking jobs during our stay there. We are quite mobile and can travel anywhere in order to get a job.

This is gonna be so great and wonderful. Have been waiting for this moment for some time now, since that day when I left Australia. Yesterday we asked ourselves if we were ready. But the real and true question is, is the world ready for us?

Keep in touch and don’t forget to stay happy and live like every moment is the last.

And oh by the way, to keep up the good spirit like the last time I left for Australia, I hereby give you a scenario to fantasize about.
